Univision Counts Down DTV Transition In Times Square

Univision will welcome the new TV era with a DTV countdown from Manhattan's Times Square tomorrow night.

Anchored by Edna Schmidt and Enrique Teutelo, Noticiero Univision Ultima Hora:Una Nueva Era (Univision Late News: A New Era), in an extended broadcast, will provide viewers with an in-depth look at how the transmission unfolds throughout the country. A clock, depicting the last-minute DTV countdown, will appear on the Jumbotron atop 1 Times Square.
Akin in some ways to New Year's Eve celebration telecasts, Noticiero Univision Ultima Hora will count down the June 12 DTV transition with reports from Duffy Square in the Time Square district, Univision's control room and transmission tower as the switch to digital TV occurs, as well as commentary from FCC representative Keyla Hernandez Ulloa on the progress of the transition as it happens throughout the country. Additionally, viewers can submit questions through Univision.com to Schmidt and Teutelo if they are experiencing troubles during the transition.
In the final push toward the DTV deadline, Univision will also broadcast an extended edition of Despierta America  (Wake Up America) entitled Ya Vamos Digital (We Are Going Digital). Univision also will feature hourly countdowns across all of its local stations, and 45 second news briefs in primetime each hour at the network level.
