Federal Communications Commission chairman Michael Powell and Sen. John Sununu (R-N.H.) will visit Cedar Point Communications Inc.’s headquarters in Derry, N.H., Tuesday.

Cedar Point will demonstrate the packet-based integrated voice-over-cable switching system serving its office complex, as well as the interoperability laboratory in which the voice-over-Internet-protocol vendor ensures compatibility with standards-based cable-system equipment.

"Chairman Powell and Sen. Sununu have a shared goal of promoting the rapid deployment of packet-based telephony," Cedar Point cofounder and executive vice president George Kassas said in a prepared statement.

"We’re honored by their presence and look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate how the reliability, security and resiliency of our integrated voice-switching technology can speed the ubiquitous availability of lower-cost, highly versatile cable-telephone services for the American public," he added.
