Englewood, Colo. -- PrimeStar Inc. said last week that it
signed multiyear contracts with four master agents that will service the company's
CVS Systems, Metron Digital, Recreational Sports &
Imports and Resource Electronics will continue to implement inventory control, training,
co-op advertising support and marketing programs for PrimeStar's TVRO dealers, which
are expected to represent about 35 percent of the company's overall sales.
Because PrimeStar completed its roll-up from a partnership
into a single, nationwide entity earlier this year, the new contracts expand the service
territories for the master agents, which will now be able to cover the entire national
Chris Sophinos, senior vice president of sales and
distribution for PrimeStar, said he expects the master agents to sign up more satellite
dealers now that the dealers won't be burdened by the territory restrictions that
were imposed by the partnership.
Sophinos said PrimeStar has already added about 400 new
retail locations since its roll-up. He expects to have more to announce at the upcoming
Satellite Broadcasting & Communications Association show later this month in
