Qubo Hits the Mall

Qubo, the educational network targeted to early elementary-school aged kids, is soliciting grassroots support for carriage with a 106-location mall tour through July 26.

Rick Rodriguez, president of the channel, said the tour should also demonstrate to potential cable partners its willingness to create system-level promotional opportunities.

The events will be at Simon Malls across the country and are titled Simon Kidgits Super Duper Mini Chefs. Kids do crafts with sponsor Barilla Pasta at one station and get healthy recipes from Qubo at another. Qubo does have affiliate sponsors participating in 24 of the stops: Verizon FiOS and AT&T U-verse will participate at several locations.

“We're the David fighting Goliath in this space. We have to fight to get our brand out,” Rodriguez said.

Qubo also anticipates a tour of science museums later in the year, tied to the launch of a new show, Zula Patrol.

Qubo anticipates passing 20 million cable homes within the next two months, the executive said.
