NBC's airing Thursday of a 30-minute version of Bravo's Queer Eye for the
Straight Guy drew decent ratings for the network, particularly among adults
The show -- a condensed version of the hour-long premiere episode of the
Bravo original series -- garnered a 5.0 household rating, drawing 6.94 million
total viewers, according to preliminary "fast affiliate-based" in-home viewing
figures from Nielsen Media Research.
The show -- featuring five gay men providing a lifestyle makeover to a
straight man -- also drew a 3.3 rating among adults 18-49 and held 89% of the
demo audience from its lead in, gay-themed sitcom comedy Will &
NBC officials could not be reached for comment on whether the network intends
to repurpose future Queer Eye episodes.
At least two NBC affiliates -- concerned about viewer reaction to several
objectionable scenes in the show -- aired the Queer Eye episode during
late-night hours rather than its scheduled 9:30 p.m. primetime
