History Taps Kinnear, Holmes For `The Kennedys’
NEW YORK — History has signed actor Greg Kinnear to
play President John F. Kennedy in its first original scripted
series The Kennedys, the network announced last Wednesday.
Also starring in the eight-hour mini-series based on
the the Kennedy family are Barry Pepper (Saving Private
Ryan); Katie Holmes (Batman Begins); and Tom Wilkinson
(In The Bedroom), according to History executives.
“When History announced this ambitious project in
December, our goal was A-list auspices behind and in
front of the camera,” said History president and GM Nancy
Dubuc in a statement. “We could not be more pleased
that these incredibly talented actors have agreed to sign
on to the miniseries.”
Discovery Health Sets Mental Health Specials
SILVER SPRING, MD. — Discovery Health will examine
numerous human afflictions and addictions as part of a
week-long programming stunt beginning May 2.
The network’s “Psych Week” programming lineup the
May 3 debut of The Woman With 15 Personalities, which
follows a woman living with an identity disorder; Born
Schizophrenic (May 4), which highlights a 7-year old child
with schizophrenia; My Strange Addiction (May 5), which
showcases four individuals battling obsessive behaviors
that are on the verge of taking over their lives; and Bipolar
Mysteries: Families in Crisis (May 6), in which cameras follow
a small community of mothers of bipolar kids.
Disney To Rock Out for ‘Camp Rock 2’ Premiere
LOS ANGELES — Disney Channel will look to build significant
momentum for the Sept. 3 premiere of its Camp
Rock 2 original movie through a summer Camp Rock
music tour and July soundtrack release.
Camp Rock 2 stars Demi Lovato and The Jonas Brothers
will embark on a worldwide concert tour produced by
Live Nation beginning July 27 in Dallas as part of the promotion
for the movie, a sequel to the 2008 hit telefilm.
The movie’s 15-song soundtrack will be released July
27 on iTunes and retail music stores more than a month
in advance of Camp Rock 2’s Disney Channel premiere.
Fans of the movie franchise can also access beginning
May 11 a Camp Rock-themed premium app for the
iTouch, iPhone and iPad, to buy tickets to the concert,
hear music clips, and to watch videos.
The original Camp Rock film drew 10.1 million viewers
in its June 2008 premiere on Disney Channel and has
reached over 137 million unduplicated viewers since its
