In a strategic realignment Tuesday, QVC Inc. combined merchandising for both its network and Web site (www.qvc.com) under one executive.

Effective immediately, executive vice president Randy Ronning was promoted and also given the title of chief merchandising officer, where he will lead merchandising initiatives for home shopping channel QVC, as well as QVC.com. As such, he will be responsible for merchandising, brand development and Internet, reporting to Darlene Daggett, president of U.S. commerce.

Ronning will assume the title of QVC’s previous chief merchandising officer, Kim Maguire, who has left the company. But she had only been in charge of merchandising strategies for QVC, not QVC.com. Ronning’s expanded duties will include having online merchandising under his wing.

“Randy is an extremely customer-focused leader with a seasoned retailing background,” Daggett said in a prepared statement. “His vision and solid execution has helped QVC.com to evolve as one of the largest, most successful multichannel providers on the Internet. We look forward to Randy’s contributions in his new role.”

Ronning joined QVC, now a unit of Liberty Media Corp., in January 2001 as executive vice president. Prior to that, he spent 30 years with JC Penney Co. Inc., where his posts included president of its catalog and Internet divisions.
