Comcast Corp. executives may want to take note: Qwest Communications
International Inc. won Federal Communications Commission approval to offer
long-distance service in nine states that will include major Comcast cable
markets in Seattle, Denver and Salt Lake City.
Qwest said the FCC approved long-distance entry into Colorado, Idaho, Iowa,
Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
The company said it will announce pricing plans and packaging strategies by
The regional Bell operating company also said it will soon file for
long-distance entry in its other five core local phone states: Oregon, New
Mexico, South Dakota, Arizona and Minnesota.
Some RBOCs have found success in bundling local, long distance and
digital-subscriber-line packages together.
