Radio’s ‘El Cucuy’ to Host Azteca Show

Spanish-language radio personality Renán Almendárez Coello, known as “El Cucuy” to his legions of fans, has partnered with Azteca America to host a new weekly show, AztePacá, a two-hour Saturday night variety show.

The Honduras-native has been a staple in Spanish-language radio for years, first as host of his own show on Univision Radio and since early 2004 on SBS’s 97.9 La Raza.

The show is set to premiere Saturday Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. ET. According to an Azteca America spokesperson, AztePacá — a play on words between Azteca, and the Spanish of “get over here” — will feature a two-hour weekly mix of music performances, interviews, sketches and human interest stories that bring high-profile artists together with invited guests who share their stories.

The format is similar to Univision’s weekly Wednesday Don Francisco Presenta, a one-hour variety nightly show hosted by Mario Kreutzberger, aka Don Francisco.
