Rap Concert to Hit PPV

New Orleans-Concert promoter Down South Entertainment is slated to offer a Sept. 3 pay-per-view concert featuring some of the top names in hip-hop music.

The live concert, which is expected to have an anti-violence theme, will feature such popular rap performers as Dr. Dre, Busta Rhymes, Lil' Kim and Eminem, Down South Entertainment president Marcell Morton said. The event will retail at a suggested $24.95.

The concert will be offered exclusively to In Demand, Morton said. However, the network has yet to sign off on the event, according to sources close to the situation.

Though the industry has offered several concerts geared toward teens and young adults, it has yet to offer a rap-oriented event, despite the fact that rap music generates a significant amount of current CD sales from that audience.
