Rainbow Media Holdings promoted 14-year company veteran Hank Ratner from chief operating officer to vice chairman last week.
Ratner, who reports to Rainbow CEO Josh Sapan, will oversee Rainbow's partnerships with companies like Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., NBC and Fox Sports Net, and work on future deals. He said the company will not fill the COO position.
"Josh and I sort of partner on running Rainbow and thinking about Rainbow and strategizing for Rainbow, we'll continue to do that together," Ratner said. "But in addition to that, as has been the case for a while, I'll focus a lot on transactions, partners and strategy."
Under Rainbow's management structure, finance, communications, legal, technical and creative services will report to Ratner. Division and network heads report to Sapan.
Ratner first joined Rainbow's parent Cablevision Systems Corp. in 1987, as assistant general counsel. He moved up the ladder at Rainbow, and was promoted to COO in 1998.
