RCN Corp. said Monday that it has reorganized its commercial-sales and service efforts to create a new RCN Business Solutions unit.
The MSO said the wholly owned but separately managed division will be dedicated to serving the business community in the enterprise, wholesale-carrier and government account-sectors.
“With our continued customer growth in this sector of the market and the untapped potential of future opportunities, we felt that it was important to focus on leveraging the excess capacity of our robust network,” RCN CEO Peter Aquino said in a prepared statement. “Our unique combination of capabilities provides significant value and choice to our business and government customers.”
RCN Business Solutions president Todd Narwid added, “Our focus is on providing and managing the ‘first-mile’ connectivity from the customer site to the RCN metropolitan-area network using Internet-protocol transmission.”
He continued, “Our facilities and services are utilized for business continuity/disaster recovery; resilient routing; business cable television; fast and Gigabit Ethernet; data-center connectivity; campus fiber rings; bundled video/voice/data; VoIP [voice over IP] peering (switched Ethernet); e-mail protection; inside and outside plant-construction services; and more.”
