RCN Corp. said Wednesday that it will donate $300,000 worth of advertising time on its cable systems to support United Way’s assistance of Hurricane Katrina victims.
The MSO said it will air more than 10,000 public-service announcements from the United Way across its cable networks for the next four weeks.
RCN had earlier extended the same courtesy to the American Red Cross.
“We recognize what a monumental challenge lies ahead for these victims in rebuilding their lives and their cities," RCN CEO Pete Aquino said in a prepared statement. "The United Way's community leadership and its response fund will help ensure not only front-line disaster support, but long-term recovery -- those needs that are often not addressed until weeks or months following a disaster.”
