RCN will launch a themed tier of Hispanic programming Sept. 1.
The MSO said it will launch the 30-channel package to subscribers in its Boston, Chicago, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., markets.
RCN added that the new tier will include four themed packages that will allow customers maximum flexibility to mix and match their programming selections according to their interests and preferences.
Networks that will be part of the tier include De Pelicula, Cine Mexicano, GolTV, Latele Novela Network, Telehit, LaFamilia Cosmovision, WAPA-TV and Ecuavisa.
“These packages, which are the first in our rollout of international-themed packages, effectively group channels by interest,” RCN CEO Peter Aquino said in a prepared statement. “They combine the best in Spanish-language programming with the largest breadth of choice available.”
Senior vice president of external and strategic affairs Richard Ramlall added, “This new offering also represents RCN’s commitment to address the goals announced by [Federal Communications Commission] chairman Kevin Martin and Sen. John McCain [R-Ariz.] by giving our cable subscribers additional choice in the programming they purchase.”
