Six months after dropping WE: Women’s Entertainment from one of its cable systems, RCN Corp. said Tuesday that it reached a long-term distribution agreement with Rainbow Media Holdings LLC that restored WE, added Fuse and renewed regional sports networks in Boston, New York and San Francisco.
The sports channels in those markets are FSN New England; FSN New York, Madison Square Garden Network and FSN Bay Area.
Richard Ramlall, senior vice president of strategic and external affairs at RCN, said Fuse would be added in Boston and New York before the end of the year, adding that the sports-network agreements were renewals, “at better rates” and with additional rights to add HD feeds of those channels.
WE rejoined the MSO’s New York lineup last month, he said, after being dropped in April.
RCN has about 380,000 U.S. cable customers. Rainbow is a unit of Cablevision Systems Corp.
