RCN Corp. Wednesday launched a remote home-monitoring system that allows customers to remotely view real-time video of their home or business through any PC with a broadband connection.
The MSO said its new “RCN WebWatch” service is currently available in Boston, with its other markets to follow.
RCN WebWatch is available to RCN Internet subscribers for an additional $9.95 per month, which covers one wireless Web camera and 24-hour technical support. Additional wireless cameras may be purchased through local retailers, the operator said.
"RCN is using its fiber-rich network to bring peace of mind to its customers with remote monitoring based on innovation and our high-bandwidth infrastructure," RCN CEO Pete Aquino said in a prepared statement.
“This service allows homeowners, business owners, mothers and fathers the ability to watch their homes or businesses while they are not there,” he added.
