SoapNet reality series Fashionista Diaries got a dose of real reality last week. The show -- which tracks the lives of interns working within the fashion industry -- was forced to find another company to place its interns in when Conde Nast pulled the plug on its young female-targeted Jane magazine in the middle of the show’s taping.
SoapNet general manager Deborah Blackwell said the network will show the in-house announcement of Jane’s demise, which occurred about halfway through taping the 10-episode series, as part of the finished product. She added that the network is in negotiations with several other publications and expects to make an announcement regarding a replacement company sometime next week.
“When we said to our interns that would face the pressure of the fashion business, little did they know what a realistic look they would get at how you could lose your job overnight in the glamour business,” quipped Blackwell.
Fashionista Diaries will debut Aug. 1.
