Reelz Reels In 'The Critic'

Movie proponent ReelzChannel has obtained the rights to animated comedy series, The Critic.

The network, which today began rolling out to Time Warner Cable’s digital customers in New York City, will preview the spoof series with an eight-hour marathon preview on March 16, beginning at 2 p.m. (ET).

The show, which features Jon Lovitz supplying the voice talents of critic Jay Sherman, who balances his personal life with the rigors of his movie review show, 'Coming Attractions,' assumes its regular time slot at 6:30 p.m. on March 17. The show will also be repeated Mondays 8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

The Critic joins ReelzChannel's roster of movie-focused, largely original rogramming schedule that includes Dailies, hosted by Mike Richards; Secret’s Out, hosted by renowned movie expert Leonard Maltin; The Big Tease; the video blogger-generated series; Movie Mob; Movie Up; At the Movies ; and The Directors. The network also recently acquired the rights to Ebert & Roeper.
