MystroTV’s fate within Time Warner Cable got a little clearer Friday.
The networked digital-video-recorder project -- a stand-along unit now getting folded into the MSO -- will report into executive vice president Michael LaJoie’s advanced-technology group, although whether or not most remaining employees will stay in the Denver area is in question. Charlotte, N.C., is another option.
MystroTV president James Chiddix, the former Time Warner Cable chief technology officer, spoke with Time Warner Cable CEO Glenn Britt Thursday about what continuing role he might still have with the MSO, officials said.
It appears likely that about 45-50 of 110 current employees will either be let go or choose to leave -- when wasn’t clear.
Unit chairman Joseph Collins, as reported, is retiring at year’s end -- a move that the company said precipitated the MystroTV shift.
Collins and Chiddix started the project in 2001.
