Rentrak added six new network groups, representing 17 on-demand offerings, to its measurement roster.
The company announced that it signed multiyear pacts with Fox Cable Networks, Discovery Networks, BET Networks, Lifetime Entertainment Services, BlueHighways TV and Shalom TV.
The addition of these 17 on-demand networks boosts Rentrak’s client count to 66 subscribers to its OnDemand Essentials suite of services, including studios, cable and broadcast networks and on demand-only networks of all content types, which offer transactional on-demand, subscription on-demand, free on-demand and real-time encoding.
“With on-demand programming continuing to experience substantial growth in all categories, content providers are increasingly interested in experimenting and expanding their offerings and, therefore, need daily access to their performance data," said Carol Hinnant, vice president of business development for the OnDemand Essentials suite of services, in a prepared statement.
“At Rentrak, we firmly believe that access to and the ability to analyze usage data at the census level and in the aggregate across multiple-systems operators is the key ingredient necessary for content providers to develop strong revenue-generating business plans for this platform,” she added.

Atlantic Broadband, Armstrong Cable Services, Bresnan Communications, Charter Communications, Comcast, Elijay Telephone, Insight Communications, Service Electric Cablevision, Suddenlink Communications, Verizon Communications’ FiOS and WideOpenWest are distributors that have partnered with Rentrak to provide on-demand-content measurement and analytical information.
