Customers will now have the option to pay monthly for their ReplayTV.
SONICblue Inc., maker of the ReplayTV line of personal video recorders,
announced that it will offer a monthly service option starting Sept. 1 on all
new 'ReplayTV 4500' sales. Customers will have the option to pay $9.95 monthly
or pony up the one-time $250 service fee to use their ReplayTV 4500 units. That
is in addition to the box purchase, which ranges from $399.99 to $1,299.99,
depending on the model the customer chooses.
'The addition of a monthly service option in combination with our recently
reduced prices and rebate offers makes ReplayTV an even more attractive choice
for consumers,' said Nikhil Balram, vice president of connected home
'We are confident that these changes and our continually expanding retail
presence will significantly increase our ReplayTV sales,' Balram added.
The announcement comes one day after the Santa Clara, Calif.-based PVR and
MP3-device maker acknowledged that it may be delisted from the NASDAQ exchange
because its share price has sunk below the $1 benchmark for more than 30
consecutive days. NASDAQ officials notified the company Aug. 19 of the potential
action, which can only be avoided if SONICblue's share price rises above $1 for
10 consecutive trading days before Nov. 18.
