Bloomberg reports Cox Communications is close to a deal to carry the Viacom-backed premium movie channel Epix.
The news service, in a report citing three people it would not identify, said official spokesmen wouldn't comment but that Epix -- packaged into a deal extending various MTV Networks outlets -- might launch on Cox systems next year.
A Cox spokesman told Multichannel News the report was speculatory and said the company would not comment.
Viacom CEO Philippe Daumann said in November that additional national carriage agreements were "close" for Epix, which is owned by Viacom, LionsGate and MGM.
Epix launched in October on Verizon's FiOS TV and Internet services.
