Yahoo! Inc. has apparently joined the chase for a minority stake in America Online Inc., according to a Friday report in TheStreet.com (www.thestreet.com).
“We have nothing to say,” Yahoo! spokeswoman Nissa Anklesaria said.
TheStreet.com gave no details on where discussions might stand. The report comes after Google Inc. and Comcast Corp. were also reported to be interested in buying a stake in AOL.
A cable executive with knowledge of all three companies confirmed to Multichannel News that preliminary talks were taking place. A Yahoo!-AOL alliance could draw scrutiny from antitrust regulators, The Wall Street Journal said late Friday.
