Retired Teacher Off Hook for $1,126 Cable Bill

A cable bill of $1,126? That’s a lot of pay-per-view porn, wrestling and gangsta rap.

Cablevision Systems Corp. withdrew the $1,126 cable bill and apologized to Claudia Lee, 62, a retired schoolteacher from Yonkers, N.Y., according to AP.

Lee claimed that the operator was harassing her and insisting on payment of the hefty bill, which she received shortly after bundling her phone, Internet and cable-television services, according to AP.

The MSO insisted that someone in her home ordered the extra services, but Lee, who lives alone, told AP the only regular visitor to her house is her 81-year-old mother, "and I don't think she wants to watch porn."

Cablevision said in a prepared statement that it was continuing its investigation, but "as a courtesy to a long-standing customer, we have credited the account in full for all disputed pay-per-view orders and apologized to Ms. Lee for her negative customer experience."
