Retirement Living TV has picked up the rights to docuseries Sunset Daze.
The show, created by Washington Square Arts & Films and which ran earlier this year on WeTV, will bow on Retirement Living TV, on Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. The show follows the daily lives of a group of active seniors living in an Arizona retirement home. Retirement Living, whose target audience is folks 55+, has secured the right to all 10 episodes of the show.
A spokesman for the network said it would evaluate the performance of the show, before deciding whether to commission any new installments.
Billed by some as a retirement home version of The Golden Girls and by others as a Jersey Shore of the senior set, Sunset Daze follows an interesting cast of older characters, including Sandy, "The Party Girl," 64, whose passions are hitting a bucket of balls at one of the many local golf courses, discharging a firearm at a nearby shooting range, and happy hours; Jack, "The Romeo," 72, who, after three wives, is finally ready to settle down; Linda, the new girl on the block, 64, who tries to impress the locals by hosting a dog birthday party and baking a dog-food birthday cake for, Jack's dog; and LaWanda, "The Wild Child," 74, who throws a pajama party that winds up toilet-papering Jack's front yard while he recovers from a surgical procedure.
