Cable Positive received the TV Cares “Ribbon of Hope Award” from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
The cable industry’s AIDS-action organization was recognized for its “Join the Fight” public-service-announcement campaign.
Sesame Workshop, The WB Television Network’s Everwood and ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition were also honored at the ceremony, which was held at the Leonard Goldenson Theatre in Hollywood.
“We are extraordinarily proud to be recognized by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for our work in HIV/AIDS education, awareness and prevention through our Join the Fight campaign,” Cable Positive CEO Steve Villano said in a prepared statement. “This special recognition validates all of the hard work and dedication of the cable-TV industry to keep HIV/AIDS front and center before the public.”
