Disgraced Adelphia Communications Corp. founder John Rigas won approval from
U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan to sell five properties in order to fund his
hefty legal bills, AP reported.
Rigas -- who is accused of looting Adelphia along with his sons, Timothy and
Michael -- will be allowed to sell an auto dealership and a single-family home
in rural Wellsville, N.Y.; timber on properties in Potter County, Pa.;
residential property in Daufuskie Island, S.C.; and commercial property in
Rigas' criminal trial is set to begin next year.
