Riley Return Turns Up Ratings Heat

Pat Riley’s return as coach of The National Basketball Asssociation’s Miami Heat produced Shaq-like numbers for Sun Sports.

The regional sports network racked up a 4.8 household rating in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale market, according to overnight data from Nielsen Media Research, with its presentation of the Heat’s 100-97 National Basketball Association triumph over the Chicago Bulls on Dec. 13.

Sun’s coverage peaked with a 7.2 during the contest’s last quarter hour from 11-11:15 p.m., according to network officials.

The game was the highest-rated regular season Heat game on Sun Sports since 1998, when it was known as the Sunshine Network.
