Rodgers Joins Nike Board

TV One president Johnathan Rodgers may be the best cable executive to hit up for free Nikes.

Nike said Friday that it appointed Rodgers, 60, to its board of directors.

Rodgers, former president of Discovery Networks U.S., also sits on the board of Procter & Gamble as a member of its innovation and technology committee.

“Johnathan’s combination of executive leadership and business and media experience makes him an ideal addition to our board,” Nike founder and chairman Philip Knight said in a prepared statement. “We look forward to his many valuable contributions to Nike.”

Before working at Discovery from 1996-2003, Rodgers worked for 20 years at CBS, where his posts included executive producer of CBS Morning News and the network’s weekend-evening newscasts. He began his career as a reporter for Sports Illustrated.
