Video has been added to the “four play” north of the border.

Rogers Wireless, the sister company to MSO Rogers Cable (which also offers telephone and high-speed Internet), is launching Rogers Mobile Television in Canada. Rogers Wireless customers can opt for MobiTV video services, plus exclusive Toronto Blue Jays in-game highlights, news, sports and entertainment fare.

The service is expected to be commercially available in the second quarter. MobiTV content comes from MSNBC, CNBC, Discovery Channel, TLC, The Weather Channel, NBC Mobile and other providers. It will be available on certain Nokia Corp., Motorola Inc. and Sony Ericsson cellular phones.

“Rogers Mobile Television puts real-time television programming — including Toronto Blue Jays games — right into the hands of Rogers Wireless customers, wherever they are,” Rogers Communications Inc. CEO Ted Rogers said in a statement.

The service will cost $9 per month for an introductory promotional period, plus additional data transport costs between $10 and $15 a month.
