Rogers Runs Home-Monitoring Service On iControl

Rogers Communications, Canada's largest cable operator, is using iControl Networks' OpenHome management software to power its home monitoring and automation service.

Rogers' Smart Home Monitoring service lets subscribers automate and manage sensors, cameras, thermostats, lights and small appliances from the Web and smartphones.

"Rogers is leading the broadband home management industry in Canada, and by offering this service, will be meeting the demands of consumers who want to better protect and manage their homes," iControl co-CEO Jim Johnson said in a statement.

Comcast, Time Warner Cable and ADT Security Services are among providers that have launched home security and automation services based on the iControl platform.

In June, Palo Alto, Calif.-based iControl announced $50 million in fourth-round funding, bringing its total investment to more than $100 million from investors including Comcast, Cisco Systems, Intel, Rogers Communications, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers' iFund, Charles River Ventures and Tyco International, the parent company of ADT.
