Romance Classics will leave Dish Network's direct-broadcast satellite lineup
April 1, EchoStar Communications Corp. chairman Charlie Ergen said in his
monthly 'Charlie Chat' with subscribers Monday night.

The network had been sharing a feed with The Independent Film Channel on the
company's 'America's Top 100' programming lineup. On April 1, IFC will take over
the channel full-time, instead of continuing to share the feed with Romance.

Ergen did not tell subscribers Romance was being renamed WE: Women's
Entertainment, hinting that the network was disappearing altogether. He gave a
plug to Starz Encore Group LLC's Love Stories thematic-movie channel as an
alternate destination for viewers looking for replacement programming.

At press time Tuesday, an EchoStar spokesman had not yet confirmed that WE
would be removed permanently from Dish programming packages.

In separate programming news, Ergen also said Dish plans to add local
broadcast stations from Austin, Texas, later this month in honor of the
country's new president.
