Cox Communications elevated its top marketer.
Joe Rooney, who was previously the cable operator’s senior vice president of marketing, was named chief marketing officer.
“Joe’s focus on marketing sciences has propelled Cox to the top of the industry in marketing strategies and tactics and resulted in impressive RGU [revenue-generating-unit] growth in 2006,” Cox president Pat Esser said in a prepared statement.
“Through the creation of Digital Max and our promise to be our customers’ friend in the digital age, Joe has solidified our relationship with consumers and reinforced that Cox is the right choice for all of their telecommunications needs,” he added.
Esser noted that Rooney’s promotion also recognized his leadership across the cable industry as he serves as chair of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing’s national board of directors and co-chair of SkiTAM, the nonprofit fund-raiser for the U.S. Disabled Ski Team.
