Comedian Russell Brand, who hosted last month’s MTV Video Music Awards, will be featured in a one-hour comedy special airing sometime in 2009, Comedy Central officials said Wednesday.

The special will feature Brand and “an eclectic roster of special guests” and will tape in November in New York City, for broadcast in 2009.

“Russell Brand's comedy is a perfect match for our audience,” Elizabeth Porter, Comedy Central’s senior vice president, specials and talent, said in a statement. “American audiences who have been exposed to Russell through Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the VMAs have seen just the tip of the iceberg."
