The Golf Channel installed a complete Scientific-Atlanta Inc. “PowerVu” digital-content-distribution system at its headquarters in Orlando, Fla., the vendor said Friday.
The network will use the gear to deliver digital-program feeds to North America, Asia and Europe.
Each continent receives unique programming from a separate PowerVu encoding system. The three systems are managed by a single “PowerVu Network Centre,” enabling Golf’s staff to monitor and control all of its digital-content distribution from one site.
“Because the PowerVu system can deliver signals for use in both NTSC [National Television Systems Committee] and DVB [Digital Video Broadcasting] headends, it was a great, streamlined solution for both our domestic and international delivery of programming,” Golf senior vice president of network operations and new technology Mark Coleman said in a prepared statement.
