Scientific-Atlanta Inc. said it is set to release the next version of its "Transmission Network Control System" software, enabling cable operators to recognize, troubleshoot and correct network ailments related to interactive-television services.

Among the added features, version 1.4 of S-A's software features an "Alarm Correlation" element that isolates faulty network components and a fiber route monitoring component that notifies the operator when a fiber on the network is severed.
