SBC Communications Inc. announced $29.99-per-month pricing for its “SBC Yahoo! DSL Pro” service, which promises download speeds of 3 megabits per second. Subscribers can get that rate with a one-year commitment if they are SBC local and long-distance customer. SBC said the previous price was $39.99 per month.
The new pricing is in effect until March 31. SBC said its "All Distance" local and long-distance bundle costs $48.95.
As part of the promotion, new subscribers will receive either a free digital-subscriber-line modem or a wireless home gateway for $50 after a $99 instant credit.
SBC has a similar offer in the market for its 1.5-mbps-downstream service, with SBC Yahoo! and All Distance priced at $19.99 per month until March 31.
