Sci Fi to Enter Dark Kingdom

Sci Fi Channel will debut original two-part, four-hour hour fantasy-adventure miniseriesDark Kingdom: The Dragon King Monday, March 27 and Tuesday, March 28 at 9 p.m. (EST/PST).

The film was licensed exclusively to the network for broadcast in the United States via Debmar-Mercury and its principals, Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein.

Cast members include Julian Sands (Leaving Las Vegas, A Room with a View), Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines), Alicia Witt (The Upside of Anger, Vanilla Sky), Samuel West (Van Helsing, Iris), Robert Pattinson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and Max Von Sydow (The Exorcist).

The network described DarkKingdom as a dramatic retelling of the German myth that inspired J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.

DarkKingdom is an action-packed, visually stunning film with an epic love story at its heart,” Sci Fi senior vice president of programming and original movies Thomas Vitale said in a prepared statement. “The scope and scale of this fantastical miniseries will make it one of the highlights of our channel’s 2006 programming slate.”
