Sci Fi Green-Lights Reality Skeins

Los Angeles -- Sci Fi Channel will expand its reality-programming horizons with several new skeins slated for development.

New "alternative" game-show and competition programs announced Thursday at NBC Universal Cable's Television Critics Association tour session here include Master Blasters, in which rocket scientists battle to launch projects into orbit; Mind Game, where contestants match wits in a number of brain-teasing situations; The Gauntlet, in which competitors have to navigate a maze without clues or light; and Dallas in Wonderland, where host Dallas Campbell attempts to accomplish bizarre challenges.
Other shows in development include Gordian, an animated series that portrays a world where humans and robots live together; and Still in Search of, a spoof on paranormal investigations.
In other NBC U news, USA Network will undergo a branding overhaul later this year that will include a new on-air look, logo and new tone, USA president Bonnie Hammer said, although she would not reveal specific details.

"Clearly, USA has had great success with its original programming, but what we hope to do is enhance that success by creating an environment that truly defines the network," she said.
