Orlando, Fla. -- Scopus Video Networks is debuting a "headend in a box" here, pitching it as a simple and quick way for operators to deploy digital simulcast in their networks.
The Piccolo system provides MPEG-2 encoding, grooming, rate shaping, splicing and edge-decoding functions. The system consists of Scopus' UE-9240, which combines four MPEG-2 encoders in a one-rack-unit-high platform; the company's IVG-7000 digital-video processor; and its UID-2912 edge decoder. Each of those components is integrated with Scopus' NMS-4000 network-management system.
