Cincinnati-Cable-network improvements helped drive third-quarter cash flow up 19 percent at E.W. Scripps Co.
Operating cash flow for media in the category-including Food Network, Home & Garden Television and Do It Yourself Network-rose to $13.8 million from $2.1 million in the same period a year ago, Scripps said last week.
At HGTV, operating cash flow tripled, to $15 million from $4.3 million a year ago. Revenue rose 30 percent, to $47.7 million.
HGTV's subscriber count rose 3 million, to 65.9 million. It has added about 8 million domestic subscribers in the past year.
Food's revenue rose 62 percent, to $24.7 million, and operating cash flow hit $1.3 million, versus a loss of $1.8 million in the same period a year ago. Food gained 3.2 million subscribers-to 52.3 million-and has added 10 million new subscribers over the year.
