Scripps Networks generated $84.8 million in revenue in May, up 22% from the same month last year, parent E.W. Scripps Co. said Monday.
Advertising revenue at Scripps Networks -- which includes Home & Garden Television, Food Network, Do It Yourself, Fine Living and Great American Country -- rose 23%, while affiliate-fee revenue increased 17%. The Scripps Networks unit is the company’s most profitable division.
Scripps said it expects ad revenue from the unit to be up 25%-30% during the second quarter.
The company added that May revenue at its Shop at Home subsidiary rose 29% to $28.2 million. The network also grew its distribution to 53 million “full-time-equivalent television households,” up 8.6% compared with the same month last year.
Companywide, E.W. Scripps saw total revenue increase 2.5% to $63.9 million compared with May 2004.
