The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers and the Walter Kaitz Foundation teamed up Thursday to host an expanded “Supplier Diversity Connection” at the trade group’s Cable-Tec Expo 2005 in San Antonio.

The Supplier Diversity Connection was established to create opportunities for women- and minority-owned businesses interested in serving the technical and engineering segment of the cable industry.

The event wrapped up with a late-afternoon networking reception, which featured opening remarks from SCTE CEO John Clark and Kaitz executive director Debbie Smith.

The SCTE also rolled out its revamped Web site (www.scte.org) Thursday.

Among improvements to the trade group’s site: a design facelift; new navigation; new functionality in the calendar area; a new return-on-investment module that establishes a block of home-page feature-advertising space, replacing thin, horizontal banner ads; enlarged banner ads on sublevel pages, moved to the top of the screen; and enlarged buttons.
