SCTE Names Chapter Of The Year

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers said its Alaska Chapter has come away with Chapter of the Year honors, citing its implemented a virtual training program for the entire state of Alaska, which saw a 260% increase in attendance.

The Alaska Chapter, which is based in Anchorage, is led by chapter presidnet, Markus Kofoid, who was also the co-recipient of the SCTE Chapter Member of the Year Award for 2009. Kofoid is an OSP design engineer with GCI Communications.

SCTE said it honored its top chapters and meetings groups based on 2013 performance during the 13th Annual SCTE Chapter Awards Dinner Wednesday evening in Charlotte, N.C., as part of this year’s SCTE Chapter Leadership Conference.

SCTE also presented awards for the other top seven spots in the Chapter of the Year running: Razorback Chapter was second followed by the Golden Gate Chapter; Llano Estacado Chapter; New England Chapter; Dakota Territory Chapter; San Diego Chapter; and Mount Rainier Chapter. The Most Improved Chapter of the Year honors went to the Show Me Chapter.

SCTE also announced the following awards during the event:

  • Compliance Award: Alaska Chapter and Razorback Chapter (tie); Most Improved: Cascade Range Chapter
  • Recruitment Award: Mount Rainier Chapter; Most Improved: Greater Chicago Chapter
  • Striving for Excellence Award: Razorback Chapter; Most Improved: Dixie Chapter
  • Professional Development Award: Alaska Chapter; Most Improved: Sam Houston Chapter

Additionally, SCTE presented a Chapter Achievement Certificate to the Piedmont Chapter and the Southern California Chapter.
