The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers has named Basil Badawiyeh, video-system engineer at Adelphia Communications Corp., as the 2004 recipient of its "Young Engineer of the Year Award."
Badawiyeh, 28, received the award based on his work on technical analysis and field trials of hybrid fiber-coaxial equipment including video-on-demand, edge devices, quadrature amplitude modulation and HDTV; evaluating wireless- and wired-networking technologies; and creating strategies for scalable packet-based Internet-protocol transport solutions for converged networks.
The award is presented by the SCTE, Pace Micro Technology plc and Multichannel News
. It will be presented during the SCTE 's Emerging Technologies Show Jan. 13-15 in Dallas.
