The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers said Tony Werner, the executive vice president and chief technology officer of Comcast, will serve as the program committee chairman for the 2014 Cable-Tec Expo, now slated for September 23-26 in Denver.
As chair, Werner will head up the development and educational content year’s cable technology confab. He succeeds Kevin Hart, executive vice president and CTO of Cox Communications, as the show’s program committee chair.
“Under Tony Werner, Comcast has made significant advances in its network architecture, its service delivery platforms and its delivery of world-class consumer experiences,” said Mark Dzuban, president and CEO of SCTE, in a statement. “We’re grateful to Tony for taking the reins of the Cable-Tec Expo 2014 Program Committee, and look forward to harnessing his experiences, his leadership skills and his vision for the industry to develop content that will increase the value of Expo as a venue for education and innovative thinking.”
“Through increased educational opportunities at Cable-Tec Expo and an enhanced relationship with CableLabs, SCTE has led the way in aligning the skills of the engineering workforce with the needs of cable system operators and consumers,” added Werner. “I look forward to working with the Cable-Tec Expo 2014 Program Committee to create an agenda that prepares our industry for the upcoming changes that will increase cable’s competitive edge in the future.”
