SeaChange Flashes Its ‘Blade’

SeaChange International Inc. unveiled its “SeaChange Memory Streaming Blade” Wednesday.

The digital-video-systems vendor said the add-on for deployed SeaChange Internet-protocol-video systems increases total streaming capacity by a factor of eight and allows operators to serve their most popular content from memory, while leaving the less popular, “long-tail” content on more cost-efficient disks.

SeaChange added that the SeaChange Memory Blade fits right inside many of its “MediaCluster” video-server chasses, establishing greater capacity within the same “IP Video System” footprint.

“Our new blade effectively turns our existing servers into hybrid memory-disk servers -- the most efficient model for on-demand streaming,” senior vice president of corporate strategy Yvette Kanouff said in a prepared statement.
