SeaChange Powers IPTV Launch in India

India Online Broadband (IOL) launched the country’s first IPTV-based TV-on-demand service to more than 250,000 subscribers in Mumbai last week using software, servers and middleware from SeaChange International.

The company is using government-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam’s networks to offer a video-on-demand lineup including Bollywood and Hollywood hits and music videos, as well as interactive gaming, video conferencing, an “e-education” channel and live financial data from the Bombay Stock Exchange.

In other SeaChange news, the company and its On Demand Group subsidiary teamed up with Tele München Gruppe to launch On Demand Deutschland, a Munich-based jointly-owned venture aimed at establishing on-demand and pay-per-view services on multiple platforms.

On Demand Deutschland will cater to German-speaking Europe.
