AMC has signed up Sears, Roebuck & Co. to be a major sponsor for its upcoming Thanksgiving-weekend movie marathon and as part of its December lineup.
The retailer, which has advertised with the movie network in the past, is supporting “Movies You’ll Thank Us for,” a set of popular dramatic and comedic films spanning the past three decades, which will include the network-television premiere of The In-Laws.
As part of the sponsorship agreement, terms of which were not disclosed, Sears will receive customized movie-minute vignettes featuring clips of Field of Dreams,as well as integration of its new “Wish Big” holiday shopping creative. Moreover, AMC officials said, Sears will gain exposure via movie wrap-ups tied to the Field of Dreams motif and on-air billboards throughout December.
In addition to Field of Dreams and the debut of The In-Laws -- the 2003 Warner Bros. theatrical starring Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks -- Nov. 27 at 8 p.m., the marathon will include Say Anything, The Natural, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Money Pit, When Harry Met Sally, Clear & Present Danger, Point Break, Young Guns 1 & 2 and The Graduate.
