National Geographic Channel’s special about the Secret Service wasn’t so secret Sunday night, as it helped the network to achieve record ratings.
NGC registered its first-ever 1.0 household rating mark for two-hour special Inside the U.S. Secret Service, which aired from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. (EST/PST) Oct. 24.
The special attracted 2.3 million viewers during its premiere and another 1.4 million in its encore from 11 p.m.-1 a.m. that night. The 3.7 million viewers more than doubled the previous record that tuned into NGC’s June 7 airing of Return to Titanic, according to network officials.
When Secret Service was coupled with NGC Presents: Air Force One, which earned a 0.73 household mark in the following hour, the network averaged a best-ever 0.9 in primetime Oct. 24.
Network officials said the Secret Service show outpaced the channel’s household primetime average in the fourth quarter to date by 230%, while the 0.5 it scored for adults 25-54 was up 150% versus that demo.
